NATIONAL HONOR AND JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY ADVISERS AND OFFICERS
|
A one day, drive-in leadership workshop and professional development opportunity for all Missouri NHS and NJHS chapter officers and advisers is planned for Tuesday, October 8. Smith-Cotton is hosting the event at Sedalia, MO. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Training will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m. This will be a wonderful opportunity for advisers and student leaders to network with others from across the state and learn more about NHS and NJHS.
We encourage Missouri NHS and NJHS chapters to bring up to eight (8) of their officers to participate in the leadership training session. Students will participate in a number of leadership exercises. For advisers, the MANHS Executive Board will lead the agenda for the day. We will be discussing items covered in the NHS and NJHS Handbook. Topics will include, but are not limited to: benefits of membership, recommended selection procedures, faculty council evaluation forms, and dismissal procedures. Advisers will have an opportunity to network, share ideas on chapter activities, fund-raising, service projects, chapter scrapbooks, scholarship programs, and state and national NHS/NJHS conventions, etc. This workshop will be beneficial to new chapter advisers as well as experienced advisers who want to confirm that their local procedures are in adherence with national policies. The registration fee for student and adviser attendees is per person is $20 (includes registration and snack), plus money to purchase lunch from a food truck. Registration is due by October 4. Checks or purchase orders are accepted. If you have questions about the day or the topics of discussion, please call Rhonda Wertz, MANHS Executive Director, e-mail at [email protected].
